CA. Aug 25, 2014. #1. I was recently talked into inspecting a co-worker’s 2008 528i. During the inspection, one of the issues found was a leaking oil pan gasket. Based on what I saw (and the info online), it appears that I will need to support the engine from the top and also lower the subframe in order to remove the oil pan bolts.

It has fluid capacities on all other things, but not engine oil. This must be a way they will insure you will take your car to the dealer for oil changes.

Was still leaking, so I replaced the gasket again, thinking I might have accidently rolled it or something. Was STILL leaking - oil was dripping onto the exhaust manifold and creating smoke.
